The University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) is a regional, selective admissions university providing a unique blend of academic programs that serve the needs of traditional, non-traditional, and distance learners. As the core for collaborative, scientific, technical, cultural, educational, and economic leadership and services in northeastern Louisiana, ULM makes significant contributions through its commitment to the overall well-being of the region's residents; its strong ties to area businesses, industries, and community and governmental organizations; and its partnership with the region's preK-12 educational systems.
ULM offers a complete educational experience emphasizing a learning environment where excellence is the hallmark. The university emboldens the human spirit through student-centered learning, explores the truth through meaningful research, and enriches the human experience through useful service, particularly in the fields of pharmacy and the other health sciences, education, atmospheric sciences, construction management, criminal justice, and risk management.
As an SREB Four-Year 3 institution, the University of Louisiana at Monroe meets regional and state needs with a range of baccalaureate programs and a limited number of graduate programs, including through the doctoral level in pharmacy and education and through the master's level in business and selected liberal arts and sciences. Associate degrees are restricted to 2 + 2 programs. In addition to face-to-face instruction, ULM serves nontraditional learners through online courses and degree programs and, through its outreach programs, seeks to stimulate economic development and improved elementary and secondary education in the region.
