Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the Appointment of Dr. Randy Moffett to the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education

BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of Dr. Randy Moffett to the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education.

The Board of Control for Southern Regional Education serves to organize government and education leaders in its member states to work toward advancing education and improving the social and economic life of the southeast region of the United States. Member states include Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.

According to Louisiana statute, the board is comprised of the governor of each member state and four gubernatorial appointees, including one member from the field of education and one member of the state legislature.

Dr. Randy Moffett, of Baton Rouge, is the president of the University of Louisiana System. He is the vice chair of Louisiana Campus Compact, a coalition of state college and university presidents committed to the civic purposes of higher education. He also serves on the President’s Leadership Group of the U.S. Department of Education’s Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention. Moffett will serve as a member from the field of education, as required by Louisiana statute.
