Interviews Set for UNO Presidential Search Semi-Finalists

NEW ORLEANS – The schedule has been released for the University of New Orleans Presidential Search semi-finalist interviews.  The five candidates will visit the Lakefront Campus and interview with the UNO Search Committee on Nov. 29, Nov. 30, and Dec. 1.  On Dec. 2, the search committee will deliberate and select at least two finalists to be interviewed by the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System on Dec. 9 in Baton Rouge.

The public interviews will take place in the Homer Hitt Alumni Center Ballroom on UNO’s campus.  They are scheduled as follows:

·         1:30 p.m. – MICHAEL A. WARTELL (Ph.D. – Yale University), Chancellor and Professor of Chemistry at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne

In addition to public interviews with the search committee, each semi-finalist will meet with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community members.  A full schedule of meetings will be finalized soon and posted at www.ulsystem.edu/UNOSearch.

“There will be several opportunities for the UNO campus community to get involved in this process.  We hope everyone will attend as many meetings as possible and share with the committee their thoughts, impressions, and preferences,” said UL System President and UNO Presidential Search Chair Randy Moffett.

At the interview sessions, attendees can submit questions they would like to be addressed to each semi-finalist, and comment cards will be available to provide feedback to the search committee.  Comment cards will also be available at each constituent meeting, and those who cannot participate in person can also send comments to the committee via email at UNOPresidentialSearch@la.gov.  The search committee will review all written comments and entertain public comments prior to making its finalist recommendations on Friday, Dec. 2.

Voting members on the search committee include UL System Board Members Paul Aucoin of Thibodaux, Andre Coudrain of Hammond, David Guidry of Harvey, E. Gerald Hebert of Kenner, Renee Lapeyrolerie of New Orleans, Student Member John Lombardo of Thibodaux, Jimmy Long, Sr. of Natchitoches, Board Vice Chair D. Wayne Parker of Choudrant and Board Chair Winfred Sibille of Sunset.  Also serving as a voting member is UNO faculty representative Neal Maroney, who was selected by the UNO University Senate’s Executive Committee.

Serving in a non-voting, advisory capacity are Brian Glorioso, Susan Hess, John Mineo, and Gary Solomon.  UL System President Randy Moffett serves as the non-voting chair of the committee.
