NEW STUDENT BOARD MEMBER SELECTED

University of Louisiana Monroe Student Government Association President Ethan Estis was sworn in as the new student member of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System.  

“I’m happy to be here and happy to serve,” Estis said. “I’m looking forward to working to create a better System for our higher education institutions.” 

Estis is a senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in business administration. He hails from Rayville, La.  

As a member of the UL System Board Estis represents the more than 90,000 students at the nine Universities of Louisiana. He was elected to the position by the eight other student government association presidents in the Student Advisory Council.

Brandon DeCuir administered the oath of office. 

WELCOMING 2022 STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

Today’s meeting is the first for the new slate of Universities of Louisiana student government association presidents making up the 2022-23 Student Advisory Council. 

The Student Advisory Council provides an important and necessary link between the needs of the students and the goals of the System. The Council provides an avenue for collaboration among student leaders to discuss various student experiences and make suggestions to improve various aspects of college life. The System’s student Board member, ULM’s SGA president Ethan Estis, acts as the Council’s spokesperson to the Board of Supervisors.

BLACK MALE SUMMIT 

The second annual Universities of Louisiana Black Male Summit welcomed over 300 attendees to the University of Louisiana Monroe last week. We introduced the second cohort of Reginald F. Lewis Scholars and presented five awards to outstanding faculty, staff, and students. Read more.

University of Louisiana at Monroe: approval to name the mock trial room the “E. Orum Young, Jr., Courtroom.”

Grambling State University: approval to amend the University’s Lease Agreement with Barnes & Noble College Booksellers, LLC, and implement the First Day Complete Program.

Louisiana Tech University: approval to assess a tuition rate of $400 per credit hour for its undergraduate and $475 per credit hour for its graduate online programs as allowed by Act 426 of the 2013 Regular Session.
