Lafayette, La. – Russell Long Mosely began his six-year term as the newest member of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System today. Mosely was sworn in prior to the first board committee meeting on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus.
“Higher education is an integral part of Louisiana’s health and prosperity,” said Mosely. “I look forward to learning the unique aspects of all eight universities in the system and working alongside so many respected leaders in our state.”
Mosely of Baton Rouge replaces Gordon Pugh, representing the 6th Congressional District. A graduate of Louisiana State University and the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, he has his own law practice.
Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco announced Mosely’s appointment to the UL System Board on April 19. At that time Blanco also reappointed Victor Bussie of Baton Rouge, serving as the at-large member; Jimmy Long, Sr. of Natchitoches, representing the 4th Congressional District; and Winfred Sibille of Sunset, representing the 7th Congressional District.
