UL System Mourns the Loss of Board Member Robert Hale

LAKE CHARLES – University of Louisiana System Board Member Robert “Bob” Hale, 59, passed away Friday, Sept. 5 at his home in Lake Charles. UL System President Randy Moffett, Board Members and staff attended his funeral this morning.

“Bob Hale was a dedicated Board Member who contributed greatly. He was steadfast in his attendance and commitment to our universities, especially McNeese. He will be missed,” said Moffett.

Hale was appointed to the Board in 2005 by Governor Kathleen Blanco and served as Vice Chair of the Grievance and Facilities Planning Committees as well as a member of the Athletic and Academic and Student Affairs Committees.

A resident of Lake Charles, he served as President and General Manager of Lee Dee Wholesale Distributing and Hale Wholesale Distributing since 1986. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Special Education from McNeese State University and taught special education in both East Baton Rouge and Calcasieu Parishes.

He was an active participant in many organizations and community endeavors such as Jeff Davis Bank and Trust, McNeese State University Inner Circle, McNeese State University Foundation, and the Louisiana Wholesalers Association.

Hale is survived by his daughters, Lacy Hale Waldmeier and husband Caleb of Lake Charles and Kati Hale of Baton Rouge; fiancée, Lavonne “Cookie” White; mother, Lynn Heintz Hale; and brother, Steven Hale and wife Vicky, all of Lake Charles.
