WELCOMING NEW BOARD MEMBER LETHERMON
Today’s meeting was the first for newly appointed member Jo Lethermon. Governor Edwards appointed Lethermon, a registered nurse and University of Louisiana Monroe alumna, as an at-large member.
HONORING STUDENT BOARD MEMBER WILLIAMS
Today’s meeting is the last of L’Oreal Williams’ term as student member of the Board of Supervisors.
Her term was marked by a season of virtual meetings as the System navigated the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. She served on the search committee to select Northwestern State University’s president and advocated for a leader who embodied the qualities students desired. Her input was invaluable on behalf of the 92,000 students she represented in her yearlong term.
“I want to thank you for accepting me as part of this Board,” Williams said. “I’ve gotten to do so many things that I never imagined I would be able to do, and I appreciate the time I’ve spent with you.”
The Board presented Williams with a plaque commemorating her service to the state of Louisiana. She earned two undergraduate degrees from Southeastern, business management and marketing, and is currently pursuing her graduate degree.
A new student member will join the Board at the June meeting.
UL SYSTEM DAY AT THE CAPITOL
The morning clouds cleared to make for a beautiful 2022 UL System Day at the Capitol. After a cancellation in 2020 and a virtual event in 2021, Board members and legislators alike were energized and enthusiastically interacted with our institutions’ unique academic program display tables. Nicholls’ Chef John Folse Culinary Institute and UNO’s Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism catered the event. BLACK MALE SUMMIT
Save the date for the second annual Universities of Louisiana Black Male Summit June 15 and 16 at University of Louisiana Monroe. The event has grown to include more breakout sessions and a second keynote speaker. We look forward to sharing more about the event including registration information in the coming weeks.

Nicholls State University: approval for the execution of supplemental leases between the Board, on behalf of the University, and NSU Facilities Corporation, in connection with the refunding or remarketing of all or a portion of the University’s outstanding Series 2007B Bonds.
Northwestern State University: approval to offer a new lower fee rate for its Master of Education and Post Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership programs.
University of Louisiana at Lafayette: approval to assess a tuition rate of $416.66 per credit hour for its Master of Education in Educational Leadership program as allowed by Act 426 of the 2013 Regular Session.
University of Louisiana at Monroe: approval to charge a $150 application fee for its Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
University of New Orleans: approval to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Talaria Antibodies, Inc. for support in the preparation of proprietary custom polyclonal antibodies.
University of Louisiana System: approval of Campus Housing and Meal Plan Rates, Auxiliary Rates, Energy Surcharge, and Non-Governmental Charges for Academic Year 2022-23.
