UL SYSTEM DAY AT THE CAPITOL

The 2023 University of Louisiana System Day at the Capitol shared the spirit of the System’s nine member institutions with state policymakers. The Universities of Louisiana featured engaging academic displays highlighting important degree programs such as nursing, teaching, forestry, engineering, cybersecurity and maritime business.

Nicholls State University’s Chef John Folse Culinary Institute served lunch prepared with seafood donated by Louisiana Seafood. Additional food items were provided by the University of New Orleans’ Lester E. Kabacoff School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration and McNeese State University Center for Advancement of Meat Production and Processing (CAMPP).

The System will continue to advocate throughout the legislative session for increased investment in capital projects and areas such as hurricane recovery and student displacement, IT and cybersecurity infrastructure, and research.

STUDENT BOARD MEMBER’S FINAL MEETING

Today marked the end of student Board member Ethan Estis’ term of service. He is finishing his final semester at the University of Louisiana Monroe and has plans to pursue a law degree after graduation.

“This has been a renowned and cultivating experience … While my term was only a year, I have learned so much about the System, about all nine of our institutions, and the 90,000 students that we serve daily,” Estis said. “No institution can function without our students, and to have student voice on this Board and student perspective in the room means a lot to me and the students that we serve.”
