MEDIA ADVISORY – University of Louisiana System Board to Participate in Professional Development – Sep 21, 2007

Focus on Improving Access and Success

BATON ROUGE, La.- The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System and campus presidents will travel to North Louisiana for a two-day professional development seminar next week. Nationally renowned speakers will present research on student participation rates and achievement in order to foster discussions on improving student access and success at the eight UL System universities.

What: UL System Board Professional Development
When: Sept. 26-27, 2007
Where: Squire Creek Country Club, Choudrant, Louisiana

The two-day events include meeting with Louisiana Community and Technical College System President Joe May to reinforce the partnership between the two systems and a dinner meeting with The Committee of 100 to strengthen relationships with business and industry.

Keynote speakers Kati Haycock, President of The Education Trust and Jan Somerville, Executive Director of the National Association of System Heads, will present the national Access and Success Initiative, to which the UL System and 23 other higher education systems across the country have committed.
