Second Public Forum on Nicholls Presidential Search to Take Place Tuesday

Second Public Forum on Nicholls Presidential Search to Take Place Tuesday, Jan. 28 – Jan 23, 2003

Students, faculty and community members have another chance Tuesday to voice their opinions about the qualities they want to see in the next Nicholls State University president.

What: Public forum to discuss next Nicholls President
When: Noon to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28
Where: Union Ballroom; Nicholls State University Campus; Thibodaux, La.

An initial public forum in November attracted more than 100 people. To encourage even greater participation, the Presidential Search Committee, chaired by University of Louisiana System President Sally Clausen, decided to hold a second forum.

“We deliberately chose a different day and time so we can accommodate a broader range of schedules and allow more individuals to participate,” Clausen said. “Choosing the next president is the most important decision we’ll make for the future of Nicholls. We want to make sure we hear from as many members of the public as possible,” she said.

To make it easier for people to combine the forum with a lunch break, the Search Committee arranged for pizza to be served.

Nicholls President Donald Ayo announced his retirement in October, and the UL System Board immediately began a process to replace him. To date, 17 individuals have applied for the position.
